Ever been stuck in a slump, eating your emotions one box deep in a pizza, or simply felt lost? Ever felt like your parents just didn’t understand or support your decisions and what YOU wanted? We’re pretty sure almost everyone has felt this way at one point in their life. You probably wished there was someone you could talk to, no strings attached, no judgement.

All that’s about to change with the recent launch of the Coach Me Now App!  We had the chance to catch up with the brains (& beauty!) behind the app, Certified Lifestyle Coach Andrea Gross.

Tell us a little about your journey to becoming a Life Coach

“When I was going through my divorce 8 years ago, we were talking to marriage counselors and therapists, discussing why things happened, going back into our childhoods and I just wanted someone to help me move forward.  So, I started working with a life coach, and fell in love with the process that changed my life in so many ways. While working with him, he suggested that I become a coach myself. So, I became certified and a few years later published my first book, When You’re Ready.”

What inspired you to start this app?

“After  years of clients telling me ‘I wish I could’ve talked to you on Saturday before my date,’ or ‘I had an interview Monday & I was so nervous…’ I thought of creating an app where people could call in the moment, when they are feeling anxious or need support.

Having a place where people can get help when they’re really stressing out about something was important to me. Talking to a coach in that moment has a major impact on the outcome of the situation.

I also thought it was a great alternative for men because they hate therapy. Sometimes they just want to talk to someone, but the thought of making an appointment with a therapist is somewhat daunting.

I also wanted to create something affordable for people who don’t want to sit in a therapist’s office for an hour. That’s what the Coach me Now App is for.”

How does the app work?

“It’s super simple. Just download the free app, pay and book a session. It’s $40 for every session which lasts 20 minutes. You can book as many minutes as you want, in 20 minute increments.”

How many coaches are available on the app?

“For now, it’s just me, but I’m in talks with several highly qualified coaches to hire. But this is my baby, and I’m going to be picky about who I bring on!”

Do you have to commit to a certain number of sessions?

“Nope! It’s on demand, for whenever you want, for however long you want.”

What are some of the challenges you’ve faced as a life coach?

“Change and the fear of change. A challenge for most coaches is helping clients move through fear.Let’s say, someone just got out of a relationship and they’ve been depressed for a while and they’re afraid of getting hurt again. It’s a challenge because first, it’s usually easier for people to stay home and stay to themselves, and second, getting them to book that first session is usually the hardest part because it means that things are going to change-obviously in a good way- but they’re going to change, and people are almost always afraid of change. That’s probably my biggest challenge, but from experience, once we get through that first call or meeting, it only gets easier from there.”

Share with us a memorable success story.

“I had a client who was dating someone for a while and had gone out, bought a ring and was getting ready to propose when the girlfriend suddenly broke up with him. Luckily he found me online and we started working together. Most men don’t like to be alone so they jump from one relationship to the next repeating the same pattern. It wasn’t easy but I made him promise to commit to 2 months of self work. He wasn’t allowed to date or go on dating apps or online dating.  I knew if he did the work with me, eventually he’d attract the right kind of girl. There was clearly something wrong if he planned to marry this girl, and she had plans to break up with him.

It’s almost always not about the relationship. You attract where you’re at. If you’re not your best version of yourself, you’ll meet someone who’s in the same place. You have to be in a really good place to attract the right partner.  It’s not about going out and looking. Tinder, match.com, all of that is great and I get it, that’s what we have to do these days-but if you’re feeling amazing and happy about your life, you can meet someone anywhere.”

Do you have any advice for people going through rough patch?

“Definitely work with a life coach. And please believe there’s always something good behind a rough patch. In most cases, it means it’s time for things to change. It can be scary and you might not know what to do next, maybe something you thought was going to happen didn’t-but there’s a better plan, there are better things coming. This is the time to get help with facing the change head on, because the most beautiful things come out of a rough patch.”

Three kids (26, 23, and 19) and seven years of life coaching later, Andrea has a great grasp on what teens and young adults are dealing with on a daily basis.

The world is changing and maybe your parents aren’t as open minded, or evolved as you, but it doesn’t mean they don’t love you and want the best for you.  You might have different priorities than what your parents expect of you. If you’re trying to start a new business but your parents think you should focus on getting married and having kids, it can be hard to turn to them for advice. This is where the Coach Me Now App comes in handy.

If you’re working towards getting to your ideal weight and you had a rough day and want to go home and binge, never underestimate the power of a quick phone call, your body will thank you in the morning!
