Come on board and explore!
When visiting Southern California there is no single iconic spot to visit, there are multiple. But, most of the time you have to travel to each destination by car. With the freeways stopped to a halt for hours on end and no affordable parking makes it hard on those commuting or exploring SoCal.
Despite all the madness, the Metro has answered our prayers and opened 7 new stations that now connect Downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica. With the opening of the new extension the commute is only 46 minutes from LA to Santa Monica. Typically the commute using the 10 Freeway can be anywhere from 55 minutes to 2 hours, that’s not enjoyable.
The Downtown Santa Monica station lets off at the corner of 4th Street and Colorado Ave which is conveniently located next to the Santa Monica shopping mall and Third Street Promenade. If you keep walking down Colorado Ave you’ll hit the Santa Monica Pier and the Pacific Ocean, only minutes away!
If you wanted to leave your car in Santa Monica and ride the line to Downtown LA. The Metro opened three new parking stations at Expo/Sepulveda, Expo/Bundy and 17th/SMC and parking is available daily. There are no excuses not to take advantage of this new expo line! They’ve thought of everything for you.
A plus side to using the Metro for travel is how cost effective it is and once you have a Tap Card it never expires. For a 1-Day pass it is $7 and can be used for all Metro services. This option is not only cost effective for most, but saves gas and avoids traffic on the 2 and 10 Freeway.
The new Metro station breaks boundaries we used to have as commuters and travelers. Ditch your car and ride the Metro to experience both the city and the sea. Tell us what you think and if you enjoyed your ride!
